About MIA

Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) is an internationally recognised melanoma research facility dedicated to preventing and curing melanoma. Headquartered at the Poche Centre in North Sydney, MIA is affiliated with the University of Sydney, Macquarie University, St Vincents and Mater Health Sydney, The Royal Price Alfred Hospital, Australian & New Zealand Melanoma Trials Group (ANZMTG) and Macquarie University.

Since the 1960s, MIA has built the world's largest melanoma research database with over 39,000 entries. Combined with MIA's BioSpecimen Bank and Clinical Trials program, these three core research areas underpin the translational research carried out at MIA and at other research institutes throughout Australia, and are made available to researchers all around the world to gain a deeper understanding of the causes, development, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma.
